Entrust Datacard Joins the VMware Mobile Security Alliance to Take on Growing Threats Against Mobile Devices

Entrust Datacard, a leading provider of trusted identity and secure transaction technology solutions, today announced that it has joined the VMware Mobile Security Alliance. The Mobile Security Alliance (MSA) integrates the industry's leading mobile security solutions with the VMware Workspace ONE digital workspace platform powered by VMware AirWatch (News - Alert) technology - creating a powerful alliance that unifies threat security for business mobility against cyber-attacks.

The technology collaboration enables both companies to leverage the new Entrust (News - Alert) Datacard mobile derived credential offering which embeds a virtual smartcard, derived from the user's certificated based identity, into native apps and services such as mail, WiFi (News - Alert) and secured applications - all via the technology in VMware Workspace ONE. The secure, simple and scalable option protects mobile devices, apps, networks and cloud services through integrated security. The solution complements Entrust Datacard's existing integration with the VMware AirWatch Enterprise Mobility Management solution, which is currently leveraging Entrust Datacard PKI capabilities to better secure mobile devices.

"We're thrilled to continue expanding our relationship with VMware by joining their Mobile Security Alliance," said Ryan Zlockie, vice president, authentication for Entrust Datacard. "This alliance allows us to bring together our expertise and introduce a joint solution that provides customers with a comprehensive mobile, cybersecurity solution."

Security threats ave increased in frequency and cost, and have also evolved in terms of sophistication and focus. Organizations are under attack. The recent security breaches have shown that cyber threats have grown from mischief - to profit, IP theft and disruption. As mission-critical business workflows become more mobile, yesterday's security protocols and measures have become inadequate. Because of increased cybersecurity threats, there is a critical need to protect business resources from compromised mobile endpoints.

"Mobile Security Alliance members are committed to an open platform approach integrating APIs to simplify mobile security administration and remediation to enable customers with comprehensive protection against threats on mobile devices, applications and networks," said Ashish Jain, vice president, Product Management, End-User Computing, VMware. "We welcome Entrust Datacard to the Mobile Security Alliance. With this integration, VMware Workspace ONE will be able to leverage Entrust Datacard mobile derived credential and deliver a more contextual and secure end user experience."
